🌾 Join Us for a Morning of Native Seed Collecting!

Help grow the next generation of habitat for birds, pollinators, and wildlife!

🍂 Saturday, November 14, 2026
🕘 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
📍 Liberty Prairie Nature Preserve | Grayslake, IL

Lake County Audubon Society has been invited by Libertyville Township to join ecologist Dave Eubanks and fellow volunteers for a morning of native seed collecting at the beautiful Liberty Prairie Reserve!

Small seeds make a big difference! 🌱

By gathering seeds from native plants, we’re helping ensure these important species continue to thrive across our local landscapes. The seeds collected can be used in future restoration efforts, creating healthier habitats for birds, butterflies, pollinators, and other wildlife.

It's hands-on conservation that helps build a healthier, more resilient ecosystem, one seed at a time!

🍁 Dress for a Fall Morning on the Prairie!

We'll be working outdoors, so come prepared for November weather.

  • Dress in layers that can get dirty. Jeans, sturdy boots, and three layers on top are recommended.

  • Skip the fleece! Sticky seeds love fleece jackets, and you'll likely bring home more than you intended!

  • Bring gloves, a hat, and an extra warm layer. It's always better to have one more layer than you need.

  • Take a break! We'll pause around 10:30 AM for snacks and a chance to warm up and visit with fellow volunteers.
