Blaze found in North Carolina
SOS-W plover monitors and fans recently were overjoyed to learn that Blaze, one of 'our' captive-raised chicks, was spotted alive and well on a North Carolina beach. Blaze is a niece of the famous Monty. Meanwhile, down in Florida, Blaze's buddy Pepper had a tangle (literally) with hair wrapped around some toes. Pepper was spotted limping on the beach, and rescuers were brought in to capture Pepper and remove the offending hair. Pepper was quickly back on the beach and seems to be no worse for the wear. What a relief to see how well fed and healthy our tiny charges are looking. Perhaps we will see them in person this spring if they return to our shores -- stay tuned here for the latest updates!
