Fall Migration at McDonald Woods
Join trip leaders Brad Stein and Matt Tobin for a fall morning of birding at McDonald Woods Forest Preserve. September is an exciting time to explore the preserve as migrating songbirds move through Lake County on their journey south. We’ll take our time looking and listening for fall migrants as well as the resident birds that make McDonald Woods their home.
This moderately paced walk will cover approximately 3 to 4 miles, primarily on crushed-gravel trails with some wood-chip paths. Birders of all experience levels are welcome, and a limited number of loaner binoculars will be available for anyone who needs a pair.
Registration is required and space is limited. Registration will close when the walk reaches capacity. If your plans change after registering, please let the trip leaders know so your spot can be made available to someone else.
