Birds & Butterflies Walk – Grant Woods Forest Preserve (South)
📅 Date: Sunday, August 9, 2026
🕤 Time: 9:30 a.m. – Noon
👣 Trip Leader: Matt Tobin (847) 951-1483
Join the Lake County Audubon Society for a leisurely late-morning walk exploring the south section of Grant Woods Forest Preserve! Led by Matt Tobin, we'll search for birds while taking time to enjoy the preserve's butterflies, dragonflies, wildflowers, and other signs of summer.
Unlike our traditional bird walks, this outing will move at a relaxed pace along the 1.8-mile main loop with frequent stops to observe butterflies in the preserve's diverse habitats. The later start time is intentional, allowing us to visit during one of the best times of day for butterfly activity.
Whether you're an experienced birder, a butterfly enthusiast, or simply enjoy spending time in nature, this walk offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, observe, and appreciate the incredible diversity of life found at Grant Woods.
Specific details about the walk and meeting location are included in the registration link below.
