Join Lake County Audubon Society for a morning walk at Independence Grove Forest Preserve in Libertyville. March is a great month for bird activity as air temperatures rise, days become longer, and the inland lakes and ponds thaw out from their winter ice cover. It’s a particularly special time for viewing a wide variety of waterfowl species that move into our area and take advantage of the many waterways scattered throughout the county. Independence Grove is consistently a popular stopover spot for waterfowl and other species, with a path encompassing its large lake, as well as access to the county-long Des Plaines River Trail.
