Join Lake County Audubon and get ready for World Migratory Bird Day at Waukegan Beach!
We’ll explore this incredible Lake Michigan shoreline with Nat Carmichael, an exceptional birder and photographer with deep experience at this site.
With its mile-long stretch along the lake, Waukegan Beach is a prime stopover for migrating birds in early May. Expect a great mix of shorebirds and waterbirds, along with species that breed in and around the beach—especially in the dunal swale between the shoreline and parking area. And each spring, there’s always the chance of a rare surprise!
