Native Seed Collecting at Liberty Prairie

Join Us for a Native Seed Collecting Day in the Liberty Prairie Reserve!
Saturday, November 8 | 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM
(Snacks and break around 10:30 AM)

Lake County Audubon Society has been invited by Libertyville Township, to join Ecologist Dave Eubanks and other volunteers for a morning of native seed collecting in the Liberty Prairie Reserve.

Collecting and replanting native seeds helps restore vital habitats that benefit birds, pollinators, and other wildlife, while improving erosion control and ecosystem resilience.

What to Bring & Wear:

  • Dress warmly and be ready to work outdoors.

  • Wear layers that can get dirty — we recommend blue jeans, sturdy boots, and three layers on top.

  • Avoid fleece jackets (they’re magnets for sticky seeds!).

  • Bring gloves, a hat, and an extra layer in case it’s chilly — better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the fall air, meet fellow conservation-minded volunteers, and make a tangible difference for local wildlife!

Where to go:
