1. Turn off unnecessary lights
2. Keep your windows closed tight
3. Run dishwasher ONLY when full
4. Wash clothes in warm or cold water not hot
5. Adjust your thermostat lower in winter, higher in summer
6. Recycle paper, plastic, glass, metal
7. Walk, bike, carpool, use mass transit when possible
8. Buy energy efficient light bulbs
9. Choose recyclable products over disposable
10. Check your car’s tire pressure regularly

Put the Family on a Low-Carbon Diet: a Checklist for Kids

1. Always turn off lights when leaving a room.
2. Turn off TVs, video games, and other electronics when you’re done with them.
3. Close windows when heat or air conditioning is on.
4. Turn of your computer monitor when you won’t be using it for at least 20 minutes or
  more.
5. Don’t use top much hot water-make sure that you keep your showers short.
